Our History
2019
The Company was founded by CEO Rick Suarez, with a core team that remains today.
2020
Stay Plugged In closed its Series A investment round, led by Doug Lebda, CEO of Lending Tree (Charlotte), the Smith Family Office (Speedway Motorsports, Echo Park Auto - Charlotte) and the Penley Family of High Point, North Carolina
2021
Stay Plugged In launches its recruiting platform in January 2021, to the largest online recruiting event ever held. "SPIN" rapidly grows into the leading platform, connecting students with college opportunities through gaming.
2021-2023
SPIN named leading college recruiting platform three years in a row by Esports Foundry in its annual "State of College Esports Report".
2023
SPIN undertaks an expanded mission by beginning development of educational and career exploration elements, addressing the needs of roughly two-thirds of high school students seeking paths outside college.
SPIN builds more than $1 million in STEM Labs for schools along the east coast.
SPIN launch the ADDY(c) award winning Stay Plugged In Coca-Cola All-Stars, identifying and recognizing the 40 best high school gamers in the US in a campaign reaching more than 10 million gamers in the US.
2024
SPIN completes agreement with Formula 1 in Schools, NA to serve as its exclusive representative in the gaming and esports industry. SPIN and F1 in Schools will work collaboratively to develop and distribute F1 in Schools based learning projects with esports competitions.
2025
SPIN launches the "STAY+" line of services, leveraging its experience reaching gamers into an end-to-end solution for educational institutions, federal, state and local governments, and community groups (Parks and Recreation Departments, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc.)
SPIN launches the "Formula STEM Esports Cup presented by Brightspeed Fiber Internet" in spring 2025, the first of its kind, tying branded gaming and education to career opportunities.
SPIN partners with NFL legend Ahman Green to launch the "Players League." Teams of high school football players are led by current and veteran NFL players to compete, play and receive mentorship from the veteran players while exploring career opportunities through gaming.
